Fernando de Noronha, never heard about this island before meeting Brazilians… and i don’t understand why! It is the most beautiful island of Brasil, a little paradise very well protected. This place is a must see if you travel to Brasil and like amazing beach, tropical landscape and diving.
Fernando de Noronha is a little archipelago and the main island is not bigger than 10 km per 3km. The island is very green and tropical surrounded by cristal clear beaches. Praia do Sancho has been awarded most beautiful beach of the world 3 years in a row by tripadvisor. And it is true that this white sandy beach with amazing turquoise water protected by a semi-circular cliff is one of the most beautiful i have ever seen.
Before to go to Fernando de Noronha you should know that it is not a cheap destination. There is a lot of fees and not only for accomodation and meals. Indeed it is a honeymoon destination and you feel it. But anyway you can go there outside of the high season and find affordable accomodation.
When you arrive at the airport, you’ll have to fill a form and indicate how many days you’ll stay. There is a fee to pay which increase day by day. For 5 nights on the island, it was around 300R$.
Half of the island is a natural park. So to access it, you’ll need the card of the park that you’ll get at the house of the parc ICMBio Office for 199R$ (non Brazilian citizens) or 99R$ (Brazilian citizens).
!! Nobody speaks English there..
!! Go there as soon as possible because there is a long queue which doesn’t go fast. It opens at 8am.
WHAT TO DO IN FERNANDO DE NORONHA ?
Praia do Sanchos – Fernando de Noronha
THE famous most beautiful beach of the world! To access it, at first we go through a nice path on footbridges and then there is a whole on the rocks with a scale to use to go done. It is really safe and quite easy but there can be some waiting time since it is only one way. But who will complain with this amazing view?..
Then we arrive in the huge sandy beach which is, for my biggest pleasure, not crowded. The water is super crystal clear with an amazing color. It is possible to do snorkeling and see a bench of sardines and ray. We spent hours enjoying the water, the beach and flying the drone.
Baia dos porcos
To get the nice view from the top, you should walk directly from the top of Praia do Sancho. But to go along the water and see the nice and small natural pool, you should go Boldro Beach. Once there go to the left side and walk up through the little hill and you’ll get there. It is better to go there during low tide so you can cross. The bay is amazing.
Praia de conceição
Praia de conceição is the beach at the bottom of the famous morro do Picco. Sandy beach and amazing colors as always. It is a long beach where there can be quite big waves depending on the season. You can access it through Vila dos Remedios which is around 15 min far by foot.
Praia do Cachorro
From this beach, the view is amazing. You can see the other bay and in background morro do Pico. The beach is amazing and easy to access from Vila dos Remedios. On this beach is located a beautiful natural pool Buraco de Galego, very easy to access by foot during low tide.
The agency Trovao dos Mare offer a daily boat trip from 9am to 2pm for 250 R$ (lunch included). The boat leaves from Santo Antonio port and goes first to the secundary island where we could see a lot of dolphins. Then we go along the north coast direction Mar de Fora. For lunch, the boat stops in the clear water of sancho bay where we have time to snorkel, enjoy the beach and the amazing buffet directly on the boat.
We were not lucky, it has been raining all day long but despite the rain, the cruise was really nice. It is really the best way to see dolphins.
It must be booked some days in advance on the website or on the island agency.
Unfortunately i don’t dive yet and could not afford a first dive with the high price of the highland. But my boyfriend did two dives with the agency Aguas Claras. It said it was amazing and i could confirm with the videos and photos! He could see underwater garden, many many dolphins, turtles, shark, etc..
Hiking in the natural park
There is a lot of hiking path in Fernando but for most of them, you are only allowed to go with a local guide. You should contact a guide in advance and he will book the hike for a specific day and time.
If you have no guide (like us), you only have the option of short hikes like the short hike for Atalaia.
It takes 30 min on a easy path to arrive at the natural pool. It is an amazing place, very protected where you can snorkel (10 min max). Someone from the park is there to check very closely if nobody touch the corals. When you get your ‘appointment’ to start the hike, don’t be late or you will miss your chance to go.
Buraco de Galego
On the right side of Praia do Cachorro is located in the middle of the rocks between the cliffs this amazing natural pool. It is very easy to access by foot directly from the beach. But you can only go at low tide.
Once you are there, you can make amazing pictures and even jump from the rock above. Really hard to go away…
Natural pool at the bottom of the rock ‘Piao’
This natural pool is less famous and harder to get to but it is on eof the most beautiful!
When we arrived to Conceicao beach on the left side, we met a surfer guy Rafa who offered to bring us there for 70R$. It is also accessible only during low tide and baskets are needed. 10 min walk in the rocks are necessary to get there. This little pool is amazing, a real paradise.. the color of the water is unbelievable and it is super easy to jump around and take amazing pictures.
Atalaia natural pool is much more touristic and is part of the natural park. It is an amazing and huge natural pool which is actually a real natural aquarium.
But you cannot go anytime! You should book in advance, pay for the safety jacket and snorkel is possible only 10 min in a defined area of the pool being really careful to not touch the bottom or any corals.
‘Gastronomic Diner’ on the beach
Rafa, our guide to the pool proposed us to have an exclusive gastronomic diner on the beach.
He is doing his business with a friend and are doing these diners in their really nice landscaped garden. The diner is really nice and unique. It starts with a ceviche and super fresh sashimi for entrance. Then the main course was a full fresh fish cooked in banana lives on BBQ, it was a burracuda, delicious!! After we are pretty full but there is still a little original desert which is a tapioca ice crème, very typical J
This diner was not regret at all. It was pretty expensive (250 R$ / pers) but worth it for the delicious food and unique experience.
WHERE TO EAT/ HAVE A DRINK IN FERNANDO DE NORONHA?
………..Bar do meio: It is the perfect spot to enjoy sunset with a view on morro do Pico. It is located in between Praia de Conceição and Praia do Meio. The atmosphere is relax with sunbeds and sits on the grass in a nice garden. The spot is super nice but a bit pricy, even for drinks and appetizers.
………..Empório São Miguel: Nice and simple restaurant in Vila dos remedios. Parmegionna is super good and the quantity is huge. Pizza are good and price are very correct for the island.

WHEN AND HOW TO GO TO FERNANDO DE NORONHA?
Direct flights to fernando de noronha depart from Recife or Natal. The two leading companies, Azul and Gold, are making this journey at comparable prices.
It is necessary to book your flight quite early because the number of arrivals on the island per day is limited, and the consequence is the rising price of the plane ticket … But it is possible to find a ticket around 200 euros.
The dry season is from September to April, which means high season in fernando de noronha.
I went at the end of June for 5 days and it was nice 4 days out of 5. We had a big rainy day. It is a risk to take but it is worth it for the price. It is always expensive but more accessible than during the high season.
